ln2, the abbreviation of liquid nitrogen, is colorless, odorless, non-flammable and non-explosive, and has a low temperature of -196°C. It can realize quick-freezing storage of biological samples and living tissues, such as sperm and eggs, but it needs to be realized with the help of liquid nitrogen containers. So what can ln2 sample storage be used for?
1.Biomedical field: long-term active preservation of vaccines, bacterial strains, cells, and human and animal organs;
2.Livestock breeding field: ln2 sample storage can be used for cryopreservation of cattle, sheep or other fine-bred semen;
As far as sample storage is concerned, the ln2 liquid nitrogen container is mainly used for the above two aspects. The low temperature of liquid nitrogen -196°C is used to allow vaccines, reagents, sperm, etc. to “deep sleep” without affecting the biological activity after recovery. This is other Cryogenic liquids can’t do that.
It is worth mentioning that liquid nitrogen freezing is quick freezing, instant freezing, and storage time of several months or even years or decades, as long as there is liquid nitrogen in the container at all times, and the liquid nitrogen is not covered with biological samples. In addition, note that when storing ln2 samples, the container should be placed in a cool and ventilated place to avoid direct sunlight, speed up the evaporation of liquid nitrogen, and even affect the vacuum of the tank.
